Description
A framed Chinese satin stitch and forbidden stitch embroidered panel that incorporates the eight Daoist symbols with very vivid colored silk thread.
A green silk backing has been embroidered in multicolored silk threads in satin stitch and forbidden stitch. Gold thread has been used to accent a couple of the flowers. The forbidden stitch has been used on the two central peony flowers and a magnolia blossom. The colors are so vibrant and all-inclusive. The central panel has been edged in a larger strip of brocade in browns and an inner edging of blue and white brocade. The work is very tight and exact. The framer’s card is on the back. The panel was framed for me in Seattle, Washington in 1980 and the framers did an excellent job. The framer’s card is still attached to the back.

15 ¾” (40.0 cm) Tall x 14 3/8” (36.4 cm) wide x 1” (2.5 cm) thick. Weighs 3 lbs 2 oz (1450 g)
CONDITION
There is very little fading and the silk still has very vibrant colors. The framing is in very good shape except for a few scratches to the edges.
Please note that any marks you see in the photos are reflections from the glass covering the front. I had a difficult time eliminating all reflections.
