An intricate, colorful vase that is artistic and professionally painted.
A thin porcelain vase with colorful enamels painted in a design of a bird perched on a tree peony branch looking at the blooms of the peony. There is a lake Tai stone in front of the peony bush, as well as a pomegranate bush with fruit. The glazes are colorful with a band at the mouth, neck and above the foot. The foot is unglazed. The clay is refined and very white. The base white glaze is very white.
The word CHINA is stamped in iron red on the base. There is also the remnant of an old paper label with the word China on it.
MEASUREMENTS
9 ¼” (23.5 cm) tall x 4 ¼” (10.8 cm) diameter. Weighs 15.6 oz (440 g)
CONDITIONÂ Â
There is a concussion mark on the inside of the neck, but I don’t see any evidence of the crack going through to the outside, even under UV light. The vase was lamped and has a hole in the base. There are a few glaze chips, and there are kiln flaws, such as bumps, glaze spots, and glaze reserves. There are no other chips, cracks, or breaks.
A very colorful well painted vase from the Republic period. It will be a nice addition to the home décor or collection.
