Langyau bottle vase 15.5″

$495.00

This cherry red vase with white (slightly mushroom) glaze to the lip and base is called Langyao, after the Kangxi period kiln master Lang who invented the glaze. It has a white or mushroom first coat, a cherry red and runny second coat, and a clear top coat. The clear coat is crackled throughout. The base is lightly mushroom colored and finely crackled as well.

The vase was drilled for a lamp, probably in the 1920s, but the vase itself may be a few decades earlier. The original lamp hardware is available for no additional cost. The original shade is available as well, in good condition. The base is stamped Made in China, but can hardly be read.

The clear glaze is crackled throughout, as well as the base, but cannot be seen over the red.
